Planting the magnificent wort correctly
Plant in small groups in a sunny location with fresh, moist, humus-rich and well-drained soil. Here you dig small pits at a distance of 25-30 cm, the excavation of which is optimized with compost and a little sand. After the still potted root ball has been thoroughly soaked with water, pot out the young perennial. Placed in the middle of the planting hole, fill the cavity with the substrate, press down well and water.

Which location is suitable?
If the Ahrige Prachtscharte looks for an adequate place in the wild, it is usually a sunny, warm and wind-protected location. In the garden, the pretty perennial is grateful for a nutrient-rich, slightly moist soil in which no water accumulates. If you want to enjoy the elegant spikes of flowers on the balcony, you can do this in a sun-drenched location in permeable compost-based potting soil.

What soil does the plant need?
If this shapely perennial is given a nutrient-rich, fresh and moist soil, it will tolerate short-term drought without complaint during summer periods with little rain. However, the strong rhizome should not sink in the water, because the plant reacts extremely angrily to waterlogging. If in doubt, loosen compacted soil with sand, fine grit, (46.95€) leaf soil or compost. We therefore recommend a potting compost with little or no peat content for a potted Splendor wort, as this material no longer retains water and compresses once it has dried.
When is flowering time?
The spiked splendor allows us to participate in its flower spectacle in the period from July to September. Don't miss the floral spectacle as the slender cylinders unfurl in bright lilac, crimson or white from top to bottom. After a few days, the entire flower candle is covered with countless flower heads, which in turn consist of tiny tubular flowers.
Cut the blaze correctly
As soon as a spiked sapling fades, the perennial loses its graceful appearance. Therefore, cut off wilted flower candles promptly. From October, the perennial retracts its grassy leaves, storing the remaining nutrients in the underground rhizome. Only after this process is complete and the foliage has completely withered away, cut it down to the ground.

Fluctuations in the water balance are well tolerated, but if they occur repeatedly, they have a negative effect on vitality and lifespan. Therefore, water the Ahrige Prachtscharte regularly when the soil has dried up to a depth of approx. 2 cm. Where the rain contributes to the water supply in the bed, this measure is less common than for a perennial in a pot.
Fertilize the plumage properly
Wherever there is always a supply of compost available in a garden that is cultivated in a way that is close to nature, the spiked splendor of a monthly ration in the period from May to August gives thanks with lush blooms. Alternatively, a single dose of complete fertilizer in May is sufficient to cover the nutrient requirements for this season. If the perennial thrives in a pot, add a little liquid fertilizer to the irrigation water every 14 days.
hibernate
The focus of a healthy hibernation is protection against permanent wetness, because the Ahrige Prachtscharte withstands frosty temperatures down to - 34 degrees Celsius. It is important to protect the rootstock from excess moisture with the following measures so that rot does not spread:
The winter protection is removed or the planter cleared out again in good time before the new shoots.
multiply magnificent sapling
For the propagation you have the choice between two methods that are successfully practiced in the hobby garden. The simpler approach is to divide the rootstock in spring or fall. To do this, dig out the spikey splendor to cut it into two or more segments. Without much effort, plant each section in loose, humus-loose soil in a sunny location and then water regularly.
In contrast, the sowing turns out to be a little more complex. Sow the very fine seeds on seed soil in March. After the seed has only been sifted very thinly with sand and watered with a fine spray, place the seed pot in the partially shaded window seat. At 18 to 20 degrees Celsius, germination progresses rapidly. The seedlings are pricked out when they have at least 2 pairs of leaves. Planting time for seedling propagated splendor is from mid-May.
How do I plant correctly?
A synergy effect in several ways exerts the transplanting on a spiked splendor charter. If you carry out this care measure every 4 to 5 years, this contributes significantly to rejuvenation. At the same time, you have the opportunity to easily multiply the magnificent perennial. How to do it right:
In pot culture, we recommend replanting the spiked splendor every 1 to 2 years. At the latest when the vessel is completely rooted, you can no longer avoid this work in early spring.
