Carrots are one of the types of vegetables that you can usually easily grow in your own garden, even with relatively little gardening knowledge. Carrots can be sown directly in the bed without any problems, as they germinate relatively easily. If strong weed growth is to be feared, the rows of carrot seeds can also be marked with fast-germinating radish seeds and thinned out later.

Prepare carrots under foil

Preparing carrots on the windowsill usually makes little sense, since separating them into the vegetable patch is time-consuming and offers no significant advantages. However, a head start can be achieved before the first harvest of carrots outdoors if they are protected from cold temperatures after sowing early. A plastic early bed pulled over it or a foil tunnel (€11.46) can serve this purpose.
