Pear trees bear fruit every two years
Many pear varieties are subject to so-called alternation. The gardener understands this as a two-year rhythm during flowering. One year the pear tree has no flowers at all, and the next year you can hardly save yourself from pears.
Not much can be changed about it. Sometimes a cut in the summer after flowering helps, removing part of the new flowering shoots.
In the case of very young trees, it takes several years before the first flowering period. If the tree is still very young, the lack of flowers may be related to age.
Mistakes in pear care
Sometimes the weather is to blame for the fact that no flowers are formed. After a very warm start to the year, the pear tree has blossomed. A sudden onset of frost during the flowering period freezes the base of the blossoms, so that no blossoms appear on the tree.
If the gardener meant too well when pruning the tree, all young shoots may have been removed in the summer. However, flowers only form on these young shoots.
