Fresh figs not only taste great, they also score with a wealth of vitamins and valuable ingredients. One more reason to cultivate the fig on the balcony or in the garden to be able to nibble on the delicious fruit more often.

Consume fresh figs quickly
Fresh figs are commercially available all year round. Cultivated in our latitudes in the garden, the fruits ripen in late summer or autumn. Ripe figs feel slightly soft to the touch and smell aromatic. The fruit will keep for about a day at room temperature, and you can store figs in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Delicious with cheese or ham
You can enjoy figs fresh out of your hand, including the peel. Since the fruits taste only slightly sweet, they can be combined well with salty dishes or vegetables. With fresh figs you can conjure up traditional dishes such as Parma ham or spicy goat's cheese with figs in no time. The fruit is also extremely good as an exotic addition to salads.
