The biggest mistake you can make when caring for parsley is improper watering. The spice herb is really a bit squeamish in this regard. The soil must not be too dry, but parsley tolerates waterlogging even less.

Water regularly - not too much and not too little
Parsley has nothing against moisture per se, it will also grow in slightly moist soil as long as there is no waterlogging.
Prevent by loosening the soil well before planting or sowing the parsley and removing soil compaction. Then the water can drain off easily.
In hot, dry weather, parsley will need frequent watering, but only small amounts at a time. Better to reach for the watering can more often.
Water parsley on the balcony
Parsley in a pot often dies because it is watered incorrectly. It's either getting too little or too much water.
Plant the herb in a pot or window box that has large enough holes for water drainage.
Place the pots on a plate. Discard any water that collects there after watering. This will prevent the water from accumulating and damaging the roots.
Water with the watering can
Don't spray parsley with a garden hose. The water makes the curly leaves very heavy and they lie on the ground. This is the best way to water:
- use rainwater
- Water with the watering can
- Wet leaves as little as possible
- Do not use water that is too cold
tips and tricks
Experienced gardeners do a thumb test before watering. When the soil is two to three centimeters dry at the top, it is time to water.
