Location and soil requirements
When planting comfrey, a sunny to partially shaded location should be chosen. It prefers to be in a warm, semi-shady position. High altitudes are suitable for this herb. It occurs wild on mountain ranges up to 1,000 m.
Comfrey makes numerous demands on soil. Nevertheless, he can adapt well and proves to be tolerant. The following features of the soil are worth considering when planting comfrey:

- pH between 6.5 and 7.5
- humid environment
- likes swampy, boggy, loamy

Thanks to its fleshy roots, comfrey can survive periods of drought unscathed. It is therefore suitable even for south-facing locations in drier regions.
