Whether in pots on the terrace, in balcony boxes or outdoors in semi-natural gardens and cottage gardens - there are many areas where lady's mantle can find a home. But he doesn't feel like he's in good hands everywhere. What location requirements does it have?

The location - a wide range
The origin of the lady's mantle lies in south-eastern Europe and western Asia. As a result, he wants a location that mimics the conditions there. But don't worry: the requirements are easy to meet. Lady's mantle is extremely adaptable and does well in sunny, partially shaded as well as shady locations.
Since lady's mantle does not tolerate heat or drought, you should avoid planting in direct southern exposures and in a fully sheltered spot. On the other hand, he can make friends with neighbors such as roses, lavender, begonias and bluebells…
Requirements for the substrate
Lady's mantle leaves are large and evaporate a lot of water. For this reason, the plant needs a permanently fresh to moist environment in the soil. Ideal locations are therefore, for example, at the edge of streams and rivers as well as at the garden pond. A permanently moist soil guarantees high crop yields later - if you want to harvest it.
Other characteristics that the floor should or can have are the following:
- high humus content
- medium to high nutrient content
- acidic to alkaline pH
- preferably moderate lime content
- good drainage and loose structure
tips and tricks
Plant lady's mantle in a location where weeds are unwelcome and you find them annoying. Due to its dense growth, wild herbs are suppressed and driven away. The result: the maintenance effort is reduced.
