There are primarily three types of pests that make plant life difficult for clematis. You can find out here which pests are involved and how they can be combated with environmentally friendly means.

How to get rid of lice on clematis
Punctually with the beginning of the beautiful season, they are on the spot and suck the lifeblood of a clematis. To get rid of the aphids, the following three home remedies have proven themselves:
- In the early stages of infestation, rinse off the clematis with as strong a water jet as possible
- Spray every 2-3 days with a mix of 1 liter of water and 15 ml each of curd soap and spirit
- Treat infested clematis repeatedly with 1 tablespoon of baking soda dissolved in 1 liter of water with 1 squirt of dish soap
Where there is a risk of clematis wilting and other diseases, fight the lice with rock powder (€14.13) or algae lime instead of liquid agents. Applied every few days with a powder syringe, the plague is soon history.
Stop the vine weevil - this is how it works
The glossy black vine weevils, up to 10 mm long, mercilessly nibble on flowers and leaves. Since the beetles are clearly visible, the nocturnal pests can be collected. Those who prefer not to spend the night hunting beetles can set out baited traps.
These are special constructions with nematodes and an attractant. If the beetles come into contact with the roundworms, they die within 24 to 48 hours.
Recognize and fight thrips - this is how it works
If silvery dots appear on the leaves of a clematis, thrips are usually behind them. The tiny thrips act as sucking pests and multiply explosively. Insecticides based on neem oil and curd soap, such as Celaflor Schädlingsfrei Neem, have proven their worth in environmentally conscious control.
tips and tricks
When earwigs scurry through the garden, they only damage the plants if they occur in large numbers. In some cases, the insects are among the beneficial insects that hunt aphids and other real pests. To get rid of earwigs in the garden, fill an old flower pot with wood shavings or straw and hang it upside down. Once the little animals have gathered in it, they can easily be relocated.
