Bow hemp (Latin 'Sansevieria') is one of the most popular indoor plants for the home and office. Depending on the type and variety, the eye-catching plants have quite different appearances. However, all varieties are the same in one thing, because the plant is considered to be extremely easy to care for.

Different growth forms and colors
Bow hemp is available in many different cultivated forms, which can have single-colored or multi-colored (“colorful”) leaves. These are usually edged in white or yellow and have a more or less pronounced transverse banding. However, the individual species and their varieties differ not only in colour, but also in growth form and height. In addition to the strictly upright Sansevieria with broad leaves, there are also variants that form a trunk or grow in rosettes and remain quite small.
Popular species and their varieties
The table below gives you a quick overview of the most popular types of scrunchie, of which the Sansevieria trifasciata variety 'Laurentii' is probably the best known. When making your selection, keep in mind that the Sansevieria not only look different, but also have very different needs. Some species need more light and warmth than others. As a rule of thumb: the lighter and more colorful the leaf color, the more sun is needed. The interesting coloring is only pronounced in a light location.
