In order to grow crocuses from seeds, you must buy seeds from the specialist dealer for noble breeds. Cultivated crocuses also form seeds. However, this does not germinate because the tubers are pre-treated.
Collecting seeds would only be worthwhile, if at all, for wild crocuses. However, these seed themselves so easily that harvesting the seed is unnecessary.
If you want to seed other beds in your garden with wild crocuses, cut off the seed pods and scatter them over the desired planting site.

The seed formation of the crocus is somewhat unusual. After the fertilization of the seed threads by insects, the ovary forms underground.
It slowly grows out of the ground. Once the seeds have matured in the fruiting body, the chambers open and scatter the seed onto the surrounding soil.
If you want the crocuses to self-seed, do not cut off the faded flowers. If the crocuses are growing on the lawn, do not mow until the seed pods have opened.
Crocus seed needs to be stratified
Crocus seeds can only germinate after they have gone through a cold period. It is easiest if the crocus sows itself.
The seeds just stay on the ground. In winter they get enough cold to overcome the germination inhibition.
As soon as the soil warms up, the seeds will begin to germinate. However, there are usually only flowers in the coming year, because tuber formation is only complete after several months.
