Forsythia as "cut flowers"
Forsythia cut in winter lasts quite a long time in the vase. If you have a little patience, you will first experience the blooming of the golden yellow flowers.
After the flowers fade, the bouquet turns green. The leaves develop from the faded buds.
The branches in the vase often even take root. You can plant the shrub as an offshoot in the garden. However, the roots are very sensitive and must be treated with appropriate care.
Cut branches for Christmas
It is an old custom to cut forsythia branches for Christmas on St. Barbara's Day, December 4th each year.
The branches are cut diagonally and placed in lukewarm water. From time to time you will need to re-cut the stems at the bottom.
Shortly before Christmas, the first blossoms open and soon you will have a beautiful bouquet of yellow flowers in the room.
Put the forsythia in the vase as an Easter bouquet
The delicate green of the forsythia leaves is a very pretty background if you want to decorate your Easter bouquet with lots of colorful eggs.
Also in combination with colorful spring flowers, forsythia branches look great in the vase.
To do this, cut branches where the flowers are already brownish. Gently scrape off the leftovers to avoid damaging the leaf buds.
