With its wonderful blue leaf color, the blue eucalyptus has a very special charm. In order to get the great look, some - albeit only a few - care measures are required. On this page you will learn everything about the cultivation of the Australian plant. Thus, the tree will give you pleasure for a long time.

site selection
In terms of temperature, the eucalyptus makes no demands. It grows in both warm and cold places. Sufficient light supply is much more important. If the blue eucalyptus gets too little light, its impressive leaves fade. In summer, it is best to place the sapling outside in a sunny spot. But the blue eucalyptus can also be cultivated as a year-round houseplant.
pouring behaviour
If you fail to water the Eucalyptus once, it doesn't matter at all. The tree copes well with drought. However, it does not tolerate waterlogging at all. Always wait with the next watering until the top layer of substrate has dried.
fertilizer application
During the growth phase from spring to autumn, fertilizing twice a week with conventional liquid fertilizer promotes growth.
To cut
Whether in the garden or as a houseplant, the blue eucalyptus has to be cut several times a year due to its rapid growth. Otherwise, it quickly reaches heights of over 5 meters. You can prune a houseplant all year round. Outdoors, pruning is best done in spring. Treat the interfaces with a wound protection agent.
hibernate
The blue eucalyptus is the only variety that can overwinter outside. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C.
repot
Once a year, or twice a year if the growth is rapid, it is time to plant the blue gum in a larger container. You realize the need when the roots are breaking to the surface.
Avoid pest infestation
The best way to combat pest infestation is prevention. Therefore, check branches and leaves regularly for abnormalities.
