Different site conditions produce different results, not all are pleasing and within the realms of possibility. If we know what a tree likes in this regard, we can also find the optimal place for its roots. The tall larch prefers sun. What else?

A place away from shadows
The larch tree is hardy and survives local cold and poor winters well. From spring onwards, however, the tree wants to stretch its newly sprouted needles towards the sun. Penumbra is just about tolerable, while shade is a serious impediment to life.
Lots of space for free development
A crown with a diameter of up to 8 m requires a lot of space. The location of the larch should therefore be generously dimensioned. Other disturbing trees or buildings have no place in their vicinity.
High water demand
The root system of the larch must always be surrounded by moisture, because this coniferous tree has a high water requirement.
- the soil should be able to store water
- Clay soil with a pH of 5.5 to 7 is ideal
- it must also not be low in nutrients
