The camellia is not wrongly considered a little delicate and in need of care. It reacts quickly to mistakes in care or an unfavorable location with discolored leaves, falling or brown flower buds or the loss of its beautiful flowers.

Therefore, at the first sign of damage to your camellia, you should act immediately. Yellow leaves can have many different causes. Too low humidity or water supply can be the reason as well as a too warm or too sunny location. The soil is often not acidic enough either, because it was watered with hard water or the wrong fertilizer was used.
Possible causes of yellow leaves:
- nutrient deficiency
- lack of water
- too dry air
- water with calcareous water
- too much sun
- too warm location
How can I help my camellia?
If your camellia is in an unsuitable place, then a change of location is the first remedial measure that you should tackle. Camellias like it cool rather than warm, so in principle they are not houseplants, even if they are often offered as such in the trade. A location in the open air in full sun is also unsuitable.
Also check the ground or soil. If it is too dry, give your camellia plenty of water. Replace soil that is too wet with dry soil. It is best to use rhododendron soil, it offers an optimal pH for your camellia.
Is it bad if my camellia sheds leaves?
Camellias are evergreens, so they don't lose their foliage in the fall. Nevertheless, the individual leaves do not live forever, but only about three years. A certain loss of leaves is therefore completely normal. However, if your camellia is losing too many leaves at once, you should investigate the cause.
tips
You can slightly improve the soil with the addition of some bark mulch.
