A camellia in your garden should survive a little frost, but only a few species can be described as really hardy. Most of these are newer breeds that have been specially developed for the Central European climate.

However, it looks a little different if you cultivate a camellia in a pot. Here the root ball is particularly endangered and can quickly freeze to death. Therefore wrap the entire planter with an old blanket, bubble wrap or jute bags. A thick wooden or styrofoam board also offers protection from below.
The essentials in brief:
- Be sure to protect the root ball from frost, including from below
- if possible: frost-free bright winter quarters
- Never let the root ball dry out completely
tips
Be sure to protect your camellia from frost damage, otherwise it is unlikely to bloom.
