Can't you get enough of looking at the golden yellow rapeseed fields? On this page you can find out when you can enjoy the bright play of colors.

From harvest to post-flowering
- Rape is sown in late summer
- the plant must hibernate until flowering
- the first flowers appear in April
- May to July is the main flowering period
- in July the rape is ripe and can be harvested
- the second flowering is still partially in the fields in August
Wasted bloom time
The oilseed rape bloom extends over a very long period of four weeks. Again and again, new blossoms are formed, so the full development of the rapeseed buds is delayed. The main shoots bloom first, followed by the side shoots. This leads to irregularities that have a negative impact on the harvest yield. Rapeseed is considered ripe when dark pods with black seeds have formed from the yellow inflorescences. It can only be threshed when there is little moisture. However, the side shoots lag behind the main shoots with their growth, so that some of them have to be harvested while they are still green.
Information for allergy sufferers
Many people have an allergic reaction to the pollen caused by the rapeseed blossom. Symptoms such as itchy, swollen and watery eyes and a runny nose are already threatening in April. However, these body reactions mainly cause problems in the main flowering period from May to July. Even after that, those affected often still have to struggle with the symptoms. The second flowering of the rapeseed plant lasts until August.
