Like many other plants, the carrion flower is considered to be quite easy to care for. Their flowers are usually star-shaped, but vary greatly in appearance depending on the species. What they all have in common is the carrion-like smell, which gives the plants their name.

The carrion flower blooms beautifully, but gives off a very unpleasant smell

This smell attracts carrion flies. They lay their eggs in the flowers and pollinate the plant. After a few days, the carrion flower withers and the larvae of the flies starve. The mostly reddish-yellow or brownish flowers reach a diameter of up to 40 cm in some varieties, while others are only about five centimeters tall.
