For berry lovers, the table is richly set from spring. The juicy fruits can be eaten fresh or preserved in various ways. Berries are suitable for the freezer, as a basis for delicious jams, pressed for refreshing smoothies or juices.

Juice the berries hot
The selection of berries is varied and ranges from
- currants
- blueberries
- cranberries
- raspberries and
- strawberries up to
- blackberries
In order to be able to process a large quantity of ripe berries, the easiest way is to use juice preparation. Juices are easy to preserve and bring summery freshness to the table in winter.
Steam juicing in the saucepan
You need a large and a small pot, a small cutting board, a lid for the large pot and a cheesecloth.
- Place the board in the large pot and place the small pot on top.
- Pour in enough water to submerge the small saucepan halfway.
- Place the cheesecloth over the large pot and fill the cleaned berries into the cloth. Have a second person help you so the berries don't tumble into the large pot.
- Close the large pot and tie the cloth ends on the lid.
- Bring the water to a boil.
As soon as the water boils, the rising steam penetrates through the cheesecloth into the berries, they burst, the juice comes out and drips into the small pot. If the berries are exhausted, carefully open the lid (hot steam will escape!). When the fruit has cooled down, you can squeeze it manually.
Juicing in the steam juicer
Here the extraction of juice is similar to that in a saucepan. Steam is generated in the lower part of the pot. This rises and destroys the berries lying in the fruit basket. Their juice drips into the collection container, a drain tube is used for tapping.
Juice cold berries in the berry press
A pressure plate is transported into a perforated container filled with berries using a threaded spindle. The escaping juice goes directly into the pot below. The juice flows directly into the bottle via a drainage groove.
Juicing with the centrifuge
A centrifugal juicer works fully automatically. The grater in the hopper crushes the berries by rotating. The enormous speed ensures that the juice and pomace are conveyed into separate containers. This juicing method guarantees a high juice yield, requires relatively little work and saves time.
