The often unloved beetroot surprises with its positive properties. It is undemanding in cultivation and easy to cultivate. Its health value is particularly impressive. Therefore, it should not be missing from any menu. Beets can be boiled, fried, steamed, or juiced. In any form, it contains many vitamins and nutrients.

The healthy beetroot
The beetroot enriches every meal with its delicate, slightly earthy taste, which some people have to get used to. Properly prepared and seasoned, however, beetroot is a pleasure and has a positive effect on health:
- their valuable ingredients protect the liver and bile
- the abundant folic acid promotes the function of the heart and blood vessels
- the nitrate contained in the beetroot ensures a healthy blood pressure
- the beetroot supports detoxification cures
Juice beetroot
Beetroot juice actually takes some getting used to, it tastes very earthy on its own and therefore only a few people are enthusiastic about it. However, if the juice is combined with carrots, apples or lemon, a delicious taste unfolds.
But first the beetroot has to be juiced. Cold juicing with a juicer is suitable for this. Heat would destroy many of the vital substances contained. Juicing with a centrifuge is also not recommended, since too much oxygen gets into the juice during the centrifugal process. The juicer works more gently with a screw press, a roller or with a pressure plate. It is important to slowly juice the beetroot.
- Peel the tubers and remove bruises.
- Cut the tuber into small pieces to make juicing easier.
- Add some lemon during the juicing process.
If you want the juice to be a little sweeter, just add a sweet apple or two. The juice will be more lively and aromatic if you juice a piece of organic lemon including the zest. But the combination with fresh vegetables such as carrots, celery, cucumbers or herbs are also acceptable flavor variants for beetroot juice. Try what you like best.
