If the angel's trumpet gets yellow leaves, it's not pretty on the one hand, but it's also bad for the overall condition of the plant. Prompt action is now required - the possible causes bring the appropriate measures with them.

Why yellow angel's trumpet leaves are bad
From the point of view of the aesthetes among the fans of exotic plants, there is of course one answer to this question: it doesn't look good. And in the case of an ornamental plant, this is a particularly important problem. On the other hand, yellowing of the leaves is due to a loss of chlorophyll, which in turn limits photosynthesis and thus the overall growth energy. The result is reduced overall vitality and a reduction in flowering.
The most common causes of yellow angel trumpet leaves are:
- nutrient deficiency
- waterlogging
- spider mite infestation
nutrient deficiency
As a nightshade plant, the angel's trumpet needs a lot of nutrients and needs a good proportion of long-term fertilizer in the substrate and one or two acute fertilizer applications over the vegetation phase. Organic fertilizers such as compost or horn meal are not sufficient. Use special tub plant fertilizer and matched varieties for the growth and flowering phase.
Specifically, the angel's trumpet may also lack iron if the leaves turn yellow. Try using a mixture of one tablespoon each of lime and iron powder in 10 liters of irrigation water until the leaves turn green again.
waterlogging
The angel's trumpet is not only hungry, but also thirsty. However, she does not like waterlogging either. Good drainage in the form of a layer of expanded clay (€19.73) in the lower substrate is therefore important. Then you can also water them regularly and vigorously without any problems.
spider mite infestation
Even with a spider mite infestation, the leaves can turn yellow. You can clearly recognize it by the additional, silvery speckled coating of the leaves and the typical webs. The best way to deal with spider mites is with water or soapy water showers.
