If you have a young blue bell tree, then you need a little patience until you can admire the first flowers. It only flowers at the age of about six to ten years on panicles that are up to 40 centimeters long.

Your paulownia starts to bud in autumn, so you should be careful when pruning or cut before buds form. Although at least the older bluebell tree is hardy, the flowering bases are endangered by harsh winters or late frosts.
The essentials in brief:
- first flowering at the age of 6 to 10 years
- Flowering time: April to late May
- Panicles up to 40 cm long, similar to Foxglove
- Flower color: usually blue or blue-violet, also possible: pink or white
- Buds form the previous year, very sensitive to frost
tips
Prune your paulownia relatively late in the year, then watch for the setting of buds for next year. If you cut too radically, your tree will not flower or only sparsely.
