A profusely flowering and healthy wisteria is a feast for the eyes, but the flowering period will eventually come to an end. Even then, the plant is still attractive with its green foliage. If the leaves change color in summer, help is needed.

Younger leaves are often slightly yellowish

Although the leaves that have just emerged are usually lighter than the older ones, if they all turn yellow, then your Wisteria has a problem. A water or nutrient deficiency is just as conceivable as too much of it. Because waterlogging or the wrong fertilizer can also cause what is known as chlorosis. An excess of nitrogen is often responsible for the discoloration.

The main reasons for yellow leaves:

  • younger leaves often lighter than older ones
  • possibly chlorosis due to high lime content in the soil, waterlogging or heavy rain
  • nutrient deficiency
  • persistent lack of water

tips

If the leaves are yellowing, check the supply of water and nutrients in particular.
