Which star umbels are best for the garden?
The higher-growing varieties of star umbels are best suited for planting in the local perennial garden. In this category you will find, for example, the Krainer or the Bavarian masterwort, but also the large and the giant masterwort. The first two only have quite small flowers with a diameter of about 2.5 cm.
Both the giant masterwort with flowers up to four centimeters in size and the large masterwort, whose flowers can have a diameter of up to nine centimeters depending on the species, are real eye-catchers in your perennial garden. In partial shade and with slightly moist soil, the care measures are kept within manageable limits. Excessive snail feeding is also not to be feared.
Are there also star umbels for my rock garden?
The small masterwort feels most comfortable in the rock garden. It grows to a maximum height of about 30 to 40 cm and is native to the Alps and Pyrenees. In contrast to the Great Masterwort, it also gets along quite well with somewhat drier soil. But this masterwort also prefers the light shade instead of the blazing sun.
