Is it worth burying the sandpit completely in the ground, or would you rather put it on the lawn or some other firm surface? Digging takes a lot of work. The sandbox can be integrated very nicely into the garden.

If you want to sink the sandpit completely into the ground, you will have to dig up quite a bit of soil - depending on how big the sandpit will ultimately be.
As a compromise, it is advisable to only bury it halfway up. This not only saves a lot of work, it is also advisable if the sandpit is close to a tree. Otherwise the roots can damage the structure.

If you sink the sandbox into the ground, you absolutely have to lay out protective fleece as a substructure. Otherwise you will later have problems with weeds in the sandpit. The fleece also keeps ants and other animals away.
