Are garden loungers from the garden market too expensive for you or do you love something special? Then choose a garden lounger made of pallets. Euro pallets are inexpensive and can be transformed into great garden loungers and lounges with little effort.

A garden lounger made of pallets is very easy to build

Build a garden lounger out of pallets

To build a garden lounger from pallets, you only need a little manual skill. The cost of materials is also kept within limits. You need:

  • Four to six pallets
  • wood drill
  • cordless screwdriver
  • wood screws
  • possibly sandpaper
  • glaze
  • wood varnish
  • foam for upholstery
  • Upholstery material for upholstery
  • Screw-down castors

Where do you get euro pallets from?

Euro pallets (€29.99) can be found at commercial establishments. They are sold there for little money. Just ask. You will also find something in the local classifieds.

Pre-treat pallets

Before screwing them together, carefully sand the pallets with sandpaper. If you want to paint them, first treat them with primer and apply the varnish when the pallets are completely dry.

Assemble a garden lounger from pallets

Screw two pallets onto each other. Two elements are then assembled. They form the bed surface.

If you wish, you can screw a pallet upright to one side of the new lounger. They form the back wall for the garden lounger. If this wall is too high for you, shorten the Euro pallet accordingly.

Since pallets are quite heavy, you should attach rollers at the bottom. Then the garden lounger can be moved more easily.

Sew upholstery for the garden lounger

So that you can lie comfortably on the garden lounger, get foam from the shops. You will need two pallet-sized pieces and one half-sized piece for an extra pillow. Make sure the foam is as thick as possible. Cut it so that it completely covers the lying surface of the sun lounger.

Awning fabric is suitable as a cover fabric. It is particularly tear-resistant and breathable. This allows moisture to drain away better.

Cut the fabric so you can sew covers for the upholstery. As a closure, you should incorporate zippers. The covers can then be easily removed for washing later.

tips

If you do not screw the Euro pallets together lengthways, but connect them across, you will get a wider lying surface. You then have a sun lounger that can comfortably accommodate two people.
