Floating or under water - for pond biotopes you have a rich selection of beautiful plants in a wide variety of colors. Swimming pond plants can be planted in the ground or in sturdy plant baskets and, skilfully distributed, bloom throughout the entire garden year.

Basically, the most diverse swamp and water plants of the shore area are divided into three different depth zones. Especially good and very natural looking if each one is different in size and planted in a variety of ways. Before buying plants, a true-to-scale sketch of the swimming pond and its surroundings would be helpful in order to later provide the plants with species-appropriate growth conditions.
- Shallow water: water depth from 0 to approx. 30 cm, although individual areas may also be above the water surface; robust plant species tolerate temporary drainage in summer without any problems;
- Shallow water: water depth between 30 and 50 cm, which can also vary depending on the season and weather conditions;
- Deep water zone: > 50 cm, consisting of floating and underwater plants, some of which have roots down to a water depth of one metre;
Planting in baskets or on the pond floor?
The use of mesh baskets made of plastic, coconut fibers or wicker is particularly popular in swimming ponds. Filled with soil and covered with a thin layer of pebbles, the plants can easily be placed directly in the tank and removed again for care. If it is to be planted directly in the pond bottom, it is better to only work locally and only with a little sand and gravel, since the water is completely sufficient as a nutrient supplier.
