Although it is not exactly easy to care for, the Clivia is not particularly susceptible to plant diseases and pests. If she does suffer from it, the cause is usually a mistake in care and these can be easily remedied.

What diseases does the clivia suffer from?
Your Clivia will wilt if it is not watered enough. Excessive watering, on the other hand, leads to brown leaf tips. If you don't react to this in time, the roots will begin to rot. If the leaves turn yellow and have brown spots, your Clivia has probably gotten too much sun. On the other hand, if the plant is too warm, the flower stem will not grow sufficiently and will remain quite short.
Which pests occur with the clivia?
Mealybugs sometimes appear on Klivia. They sit close to the root between the leaves. Most of the time it is too warm for the clivia. Coat the affected leaves with a solution of soft soap (€44.90) and alcohol, this works best with a soft brush. Then rinse leaves with clean water. Then you should definitely treat your Clivia to a slightly cooler spot.
How can I prevent diseases and pests?
The best way to prevent disease and pest infestation is through careful maintenance and the right location. Avoid direct sun, but still give the Clivia plenty of light. In summer she also likes to be outdoors, which makes the clivia more resistant.
In the growth phase, the clivia also needs a lot of water without its roots being permanently wet. Add some liquid fertilizer to the irrigation water every seven to fourteen days from April to August or use a slow-release fertilizer once a year.
Preventive measures against diseases and pests:
- bright, not too warm location
- avoid direct sun
- Water regularly, plenty in summer, little in winter
- fertilize regularly in summer, about every 1 to 2 weeks
- not overwinter too warm
tips
With the right care and in a suitable location, the clivia is quite hardy and rarely suffers from any diseases and/or pests.
