The quality of the location depends largely on whether the lighting conditions meet the requirements of the respective cactus species. Within the large plant family, a distinction is made between desert cacti and leaf cacti, which do not pull together in this respect. Read here what really matters when choosing a location.

Origin defines the optimal lighting conditions
As their profile tells us, cacti are native to deserts, mountains and rainforests. Their origin determines which light creates the ideal framework conditions:
- Desert cacti: full sun, preferably on a south or south-west window
- Leaf cacti: semi-shady location with mild sun in the morning or evening
All cacti are happy about a place on the summery balcony. Most desert cacti put on their most beautiful flower dress under direct summer sun. Although leaf cacti enjoy the fresh air, they also want to stay outdoors in a partially shaded location. The rainforest cacti feel particularly well looked after under the leaf canopy of deciduous trees.
