Although a Philodendron Xanadu needs a constantly slightly moist root ball, the actual water consumption is at a low level. With good intentions, hobby gardeners water the tree friend too often and too much. The resulting waterlogging causes yellow leaves. Furthermore, the exotic plant may only be watered with lime-free water. Hard tap water causes the leaves to turn yellow. How to act correctly:
- Immediately repot Philodendron Xanadu with waterlogged root balls
- After a dry phase of 8-10 days, only water when the soil has dried
If you can identify hard tap water as the cause of yellow leaves, a liquid iron fertilizer, such as Neudorff's Ferramin, will fix the problem. If you use rainwater or decalcified tap water for watering in the future, your tree friend will be spared yellow leaves.
