Water supply is one of the main pillars in the Monstera care program. The window leaf comes from the regions of South America, with a humid and warm rainforest climate. It is therefore obvious that correct watering in Central European living spaces requires special attention. This is how you water your ornamental leaf plant in an exemplary manner.

The leaves are also happy about a little water, especially when the heating air is dry

Pour Monstera as needed - this is how it works

Don't follow a rigid schedule of going to your window leaf with the watering can. Rather, the water balance depends on various factors such as the season, the local location or the size of the plants. How to do it right:

  • The aim is a moist substrate that dries in the meantime
  • When the surface has dried, pour thoroughly until the saucer fills
  • After 10 minutes, pour out the coaster
  • Spray the leaves regularly with lime-free water

Please use mainly rainwater or decalcified tap water. If a window leaf is primarily watered with hard water, this results in leaf chlorosis, in which the leaves turn yellow and die.
