- This is how a dragon tree grows faster
- Control the height growth of the dragon tree in a targeted manner
The dragon tree likes it warm all year round and is therefore very popular as an evergreen houseplant. The pretty plants, which are visually reminiscent of palm trees, are also characterized by a rather compact and, if necessary, quite controllable growth.

This is how a dragon tree grows faster
Since dragon trees are usually still in very small planters when you buy them, you should repot the plants in your home as quickly as possible to give the roots more space to develop. Although dragon trees basically grow all year round, from spring to autumn the incidence of light in a reasonably bright location is sufficient, even in this country, to ensure rapid growth, supported by regular fertilization. On the other hand, if there is a lack of natural sunlight, dragon trees tend to form particularly long stems. However, these can sometimes be very thin and relatively unattractive.
Control the height growth of the dragon tree in a targeted manner
If your dragon tree has grown bare in a shady location, you can implement the following measures to limit the size of the plant:
- the change to a brighter location (but not directly at a south-facing window)
- the seasonal move to the balcony
- a radical cut
tips
Dragon trees can be pruned surprisingly easily. To do this, the stem of the plant is simply cut off at the desired height with sharp planting scissors, where new leaves will quickly form. The cut pieces of the plant trunk can be used for propagation by cuttings.
