The Aeonium comes from warmer climes and belongs to the succulents. Therefore, it is not hardy and likes it quite warm. However, to thrive well in the next season, it needs a cool winter dormancy.

Aeonium should be cooler in winter

The ideal temperature for this period is around 12 °C. During the hibernation from October to February, water the plant only a little, just enough to keep the root ball from drying out. The Aeonium does not need fertilizer in winter. Only at the end of February or beginning of March, when the Aeonium forms new shoots, can it be fertilized again.

The most important winter tips for your Aeonium:

  • Hibernation from about October to the end of February
  • Temperature at approx. 12 °C
  • do not set colder than 10 °C
  • pour little
  • do not fertilize

tips

Although the Aeonium needs a cool hibernation, it must not get too cold. The plant can be damaged at temperatures below 10 °C.
