Zamioculcas zamiifolia, also known as lucky feather, is a succulent houseplant. The plant stores water primarily in its thick, fleshy petioles. Nevertheless, the plant should not be constantly dry.

Watering zamioculcas - when and how?
When pouring you need a sure instinct and attention. It is difficult to give exact dates, because the water requirements of the plants vary depending on the sunlight and the season. In winter, for example, the lucky feather needs significantly less water than in the hot summer. The following points will give you clear information when it is time to water again:
- Stick a finger into the soil about an inch deep. Watering is only carried out when the substrate is completely dry.
- If the substrate detaches from the edge of the pot, it is high time to water.
- If you have planted your lucky feather in a clay pot, you can do the tapping test: if the pot sounds bright and hollow when you tap it, it should be poured.
If possible, use rainwater or decalcified tap water for watering. You can boil it or mix it with distilled water in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 (depending on the degree of hardness).
tips
If you want your plants to be well looked after when you are on holiday, close a water-filled bottle with a cork that has been pierced lengthwise and stick it upside down in the substrate.
