In room culture, the money tree rarely blooms. He needs special conditions so that he can start flowers at all. Young plants, for example, do not flower at all. What can you do to make your money tree flower?

The money tree usually only blooms outdoors

When is the flowering season for money trees?

The flowering period of a money tree begins in late winter or spring.

The tree produces flowers that are mostly white or pink in color and show the shape of a star. They grow up to 15 millimeters in size.

What conditions must be met for flowering?

  • Age of the Money Tree
  • size
  • temperature drop in winter

A young money tree does not bloom yet. Only when the plant is several years old and has reached a height of more than 40 centimeters does it start inflorescences.

Bring outdoors in summer

The most important condition for a money tree to bloom is different temperatures in summer and winter. This is the only way to stimulate the willingness of the penny tree to bloom.

A very good way to get a money tree to flower is to put it outside during the summer, for example in a warm sunny spot on the balcony or patio. This automatically achieves the necessary changes in temperature.

As soon as it gets too cold outside, the money tree has to be brought back inside because it is not hardy. It cannot tolerate temperatures below five degrees.

Cool location in winter

You can't keep a money tree in the flower window all year round because it's just too warm there in winter. Put it in a place that is very bright but sufficiently cool.

The ideal temperatures in winter are around 11 degrees. The money tree also needs to be kept fairly dry at this time.

Many gardeners swear by keeping a money tree as cool and dry as possible in winter. On the other hand, the often held opinion that money trees belong to the short-day plants and therefore have to be placed in the dark is incorrect. If you keep a money tree too dark, the shoots will wilt. Flower formation is not stimulated by this.

tips

You should only cut an older money tree - if at all - when the flowering period is over. Otherwise, you run the risk of accidentally removing the inflorescences.
