Efeututes do not form offshoots that you can use to propagate the houseplant. However, an ivy can easily be multiplied by cuttings yourself. How to grow a new ivy from cuttings.

cut cuttings
You can theoretically take cuttings from your ivy all year round. However, it is advisable to use spring for propagation, since the daylight is much brighter then.
- Cut shoots from 8 - 15 cm long
- Cut head cuttings or stem cuttings
- at least three to four leaf nodes
- Use shoots with aerial roots
- remove lower leaves
It is enough if you cut a long shoot for propagation. If possible, it should already have developed aerial roots, since the cuttings will then root faster. Cut it into smaller pieces so that each cutting has at least three leaf nodes.
Put the cuttings in pots with potting soil or place them in a glass of water.
Maintain cuttings in the nursery pot
Fill small pots with potting soil. The substrate should be composed of equal parts peat and sand.
Put the cuttings in the ground so that the bottom pair of leaves is still above the ground. Put a plastic bag over it to keep the substrate sufficiently moist.
Within a short time, underground roots are formed. Continue caring for the seed pots (€16.68) as normal.
Root the ivy shoots in a glass of water
Fill a glass of water with tap water that is as lime-free as possible and place one cutting in each glass with the cut side down.
The roots develop quickly. Once they have reached a length of about three centimetres, the offshoots are transplanted into new pots. The roots of cuttings grown in glass are somewhat delicate. Be careful not to damage them when planting.
The right location for the cuttings
Efeututes come from the tropics. They like it light and warm. Set up the pots or the water glass in such a way that the cuttings are in bright but not direct sunlight. The temperatures should be around 20 degrees.
tips
Always plant three to four offshoots from cuttings in a pot. Then the ivy bags appear much bushier.
