In their tropical homeland, ivy flowers and reproduces from seeds. When kept as a houseplant, ivy does not bloom, so you cannot use seeds for propagation. But the climbing plant can be easily grown from cuttings. This is how you win new Efeututes!

In indoor culture, the ivy does not bloom
When cultivated indoors, ivy almost never blooms. The conditions for light, warmth and moisture cannot be created so well here.
Efeututes also do not form offshoots. Therefore, if you want to breed new plants, you have to propagate them yourself.
Multiply ivy: cut cuttings!
Propagating an ivy is very easy. Just take a few cuttings and let them take root.
You only have to pay attention to a few things:
- Cut cuttings with aerial roots
- divide into smaller pieces
- put in water glass or potting soil
- set up bright and warm
- Don't let potting soil dry out
When and how to cut cuttings
You can cut cuttings all year round, with spring being particularly favorable for the propagation of ivy due to the longer daylight hours.
Find a shoot that has already formed a few aerial roots and cut it off with a sharp knife. Remember that ivy is poisonous and keep parts of the plant away from children and pets.
Cut the shoot into sections that should be between 8 and 15 cm long. There must be at least three leaf nodes on each section.
How to grow ivy cuttings
Remove the lower leaves and either place the cuttings in prepared pots of potting soil or simply place them in a glass of water.
If you have an aquarium, you can also hang the shoots in the tank with the interface pointing downwards for rooting.
Place the cuttings in a spot that gets light but not direct sunlight. The ideal temperature for propagating ivy is 20 degrees. Keep the potting soil nice and moist, but not too wet.
When the ivy cuttings have rooted
Let ivy shoots in the pot continue to grow until the first roots look out of the drainage hole. Then put them in a larger pot with regular ivy soil.
Cuttings from the water glass are planted when the roots are about two to three centimeters long. Be careful when planting, as roots grown in water are quite delicate and break easily.
tips
You can either pull ivy trees hanging or let them climb up on a trellis. With a few nails, the tendrils can even be pulled along the wall or around the window.
