The oleander, which grows up to five meters high, can often be found in German gardens during the summer months. However, since the shrub with its long, shiny leaves and delicate flowers is not hardy, it should hibernate in a cool but frost-free and bright room if possible. The plant tolerates a maximum of minus five degrees Celsius, but only for a very short period of time.

Oleander needs water even in winter

Water the oleander once a week

During the growing season, the oleander is always “hungry” and “thirsty”, i. H. the heavy feeder must be fertilized and watered regularly and frequently. You can stop fertilizing during the winter break - after all, the oleander takes a break from growing in the cold season. Under no circumstances should you stop the watering! Water your oleander at least once a week, but not as lavishly as in summer. Use your fingers to check before watering whether watering is necessary at all.

tips

Oleander should never be watered with rainwater, but always with stale and warmed tap water.
