Variety names like 'Duftfestival' and 'Duftrausch' make it emphatic: These are most likely intensely scented rose varieties. But not all variety names make it clear that it is a fragrant rose. Which varieties smell best, strongest, most unusual?

Enormously fragrant varieties
Anyone who plants the following fragrant roses, or at least one of them, will not be able to avoid sucking in the scent deeply through their nostrils as they pass by. In total, only 19 varieties are considered strongly scented.
These are recommended:
- 'Lady Emma Hamilton': rich yellow to orange
- 'Laguna': dark red-pink, nostalgic
- 'Colette': pink purple, nostalgic
- 'Guirlande d' Amour': Rambler rose, white
- 'Roger Whittaker': pure white
- 'Aspirin': white
- 'Comte de Chambord': rose pink
Rather weakly scented varieties
Heavily scented roses can also be perceived as overpowering. Lightly scented strains are more welcome for some. These are among them and are considered to be extremely popular:
- 'Famosa': carmine
- 'Isarperle': pastel white-yellow
Myrrh-scented varieties
A scent of myrrh, a scent reminiscent of the land of the Arabian Nights… There are fragrant roses that combine components of myrrh. This includes, for example, 'Strawberry Hill' with its pink flowers. 'Spirit of Freedom' also smells of myrrh.
Varieties scented with tea roses (old roses)
The scent of tea roses is exuberant, sweet and extremely pleasant. These varieties, for example, belong to these fragrance emitters and are really to be recommended:
- 'Golden Celebration'
- 'Harlow Carr'
- 'Young Lycidas'
Other interesting fragrance compositions
The delicate pink and large-flowered variety 'Fritz Nobis' smells of carnations. How about a fruity scent of lemon and raspberry? Then choose the 'Jubilee Celebration'. Or a scent reminiscent of lemon, guava and dessert wine? Then you are right with 'Jude de Obscure'!
These varieties also smell very distinctive:

Most fragrant rose varieties are Hybrid Tea roses. The flowers are great for cutting in vases and continue to emanate their scent from the plant days after topping.
