- Care for this tub rose: water, fertilize, repot
The Rose Nostalgie not only looks pretty in the bed or along the way. If you don't have your own garden, you can also plant them in a bucket, for example as a tall stem. But what should you definitely pay attention to when growing in buckets?

Suitable locations for the tub rose
This tub rose is equally suitable for balconies, terraces and house entrances. It prefers a sunny to partially shaded location. But be careful: in the blazing midday sun on a sheltered balcony, she doesn't feel at all comfortable in summer. It gets too hot for her there. Airy locations are therefore important - ideally in east or west locations.
Suitable tubs and planting
The following aspects should be considered when choosing the bucket and planting:
- Pot depth: 40 to 60 cm
- ideal: cylindrical shape
- Plastic buckets are not suitable (heat up quickly and offer no protection against frost)
- better: terracotta bucket
- at the very bottom a drainage layer e.g. B. create from potsherds
- Roots should not be bent when planting
- fill with rose soil
Care for this tub rose: water, fertilize, repot
This tub rose needs a lot of care. Unlike outdoor roses, it needs regular watering. This is not only important in summer, but also in all other seasons. The earth should never dry out. It is poured directly onto the soil without wetting the leaves.
A special long-term fertilizer for roses is suitable as fertilizer. This is often sufficient for half a year. If necessary, it can be fertilized. In addition, fertilization with potassium is recommended, towards the end of July. As an alternative to the long-term fertilizer, you can use a liquid fertilizer. This should be added to the irrigation water once a week.
After about 2 years, the bucket is often already rooted. Then there is a repotting action. Don't want to provide a larger bucket? Then take the rose out of the old pot, shorten the roots by about 10 cm and put them back in the old pot.
tips
When overwintering the Rose Nostalgie, it is important to place it in a cool but frost-free place! The shoots of the rose are only cut down after winter.
