They are ball-round, creamy white in the middle and cherry red on the edge - the flowers of the Hybrid Tea Nostalgia. But so that they appear every year and still look healthy, this rose should be given a certain amount of care.

The Hybrid Tea Nostalgia is easier to care for than you might think

What should be considered when watering this hybrid tea rose?

Compared to other Hybrid Tea roses, this specimen tolerates heat extremely well. Still, it's not a mistake if you water them in hot and dry seasons. Always pour directly onto the root area! The leaves should not be wetted with water, otherwise they will become more susceptible to fungal diseases.

When and with what do you fertilize the rose nostalgia?

The Rose Nostalgie does not need any special fertilizer. Like other roses, it is content with an organic fertilizer such as compost, horn shavings (32.93€) or bone meal. You can also give her a self-prepared liquid manure every few weeks.

Fertilize this rose for the first time from the 2nd year of growth. The ideal time for this is in spring, just before budding. A second fertilization can, but does not have to, take place in May. After flowering, this rose should no longer be fertilized. That doesn't make much sense.

Does this rose need frost protection?

Here are some tips on winter hardiness and overwintering:

  • sufficiently frost hardy
  • Protect freshly planted specimens as a precaution
  • also protect older outdoor plants and those in rough locations
  • Rose with earth such. B. Pile up compost about 10 cm high
  • Place potted plants against the sheltered wall of the house (do not overwinter in the warmth!)
  • Remove antifreeze from March

When and how should you prune the Rose Nostalgia?

It is advisable to remove the withered flowers in summer and autumn. The actual pruning takes place in the spring. Hybrid teas like this specimen are cut down to just above the ground.

Anyone who wants to raise their Rose Nostalgie to a standard should take this into account when cutting. Even tall stems that have already been purchased sometimes need pruning to maintain growth. Sometimes they form wild shoots from below.

tips

You can already cut this hybrid tea when it is in bloom, if you want to use the flowers as cut flowers for the vase.
