Most types of hollyhock bloom from July to September. Not all flowers open at the same time, when the last buds appear, the first flowers are often already wilted. This means that a single plant can be enjoyed for a long time.

The hollyhock is a summer bloomer

Why isn't my freshly planted hollyhock blooming?

Hollyhocks only flower in their second year, not the year they were sown. If you have sown your hollyhocks in spring and transplanted them in summer, they will not flower until the following year.

The most important thing about the flower of the hollyhock:

  • Hollyhocks bloom only in the second year
  • Flowering time depending on the variety, usually July to September
  • Pruning before seed formation allows for renewed flowering next year
  • numerous colors possible from white to almost black

tips

If your hollyhock sows itself, then you can look forward to a surprise in terms of flower color next year, because the seeds are not pure colour.
