Especially when it is in bloom, the eye immediately falls on the high, creamy-white flowers. In this state, ground elder is often confused with other plants. But when is its heyday?

A long margin: May to September
Ground elder usually begins to bloom between May and June - depending on how sunny its location is. Flowering lasts until July. But even in August and September, individual plants that were only sown in early summer, for example, can bloom.
Easily confused
Due to the white umbel flowers (sweet taste, terminal, without bracts, five-fold, hermaphroditic) common in its plant family (umbelliferae), ground elder can easily be confused with:
- wild carrot
- cow parsley
- dog parsley
- Spotted hemlock
tips
If you do not want the goutweed to spread further, you should not only destroy the stolons, but also cut off the flowers.
