Do all snowball species need the same amount of fertilizer?
The amount of fertilizer that a snowball bush needs depends not only on the type of bush but above all on the location. Most of the time, the snowball does not need any fertilizer at all, often mulching in the spring is sufficient. However, if the soil is very poor in nutrients, then it makes sense to add an organic complete fertilizer.
Even potted plants often need additional nutrients. A so-called flowering fertilizer with a slightly larger proportion of phosphorus is recommended here, especially during the flowering period. You can enhance very moist soil a little with slightly acidic compost. If your snowball gets too much nitrogen, it will weaken and flower less. Above all, the snowball needs sufficient light or sun and enough water for a beautiful flower. Even though plenty of watering is recommended almost everywhere, many types of viburnum do not tolerate waterlogging. A little tact is required from you.
On the other hand, for many varieties, the soil can be moist, sometimes even wet. It is best to inquire about the right soil for your chosen snowball when you buy it. Incidentally, the plants of this genus are very easy to care for and many of them are also hardy.
