Beech trees are fast-growing deciduous trees that can be grown as a single tree in large gardens. Since beeches increase in size every year, they are also suitable as a hedge, because they become dense very quickly, but then often have to be cut back.

The growth of a beech tree per year
- Height: about 50 to 60 centimeters
- Width: about 40 to 50 centimeters
- Trunk: about one centimeter per year
- Height fully grown: up to 45 meters
- Trunk diameter: up to 200 centimeters
If you grow beech trees as a hedge, you have to prune the trees regularly so that the beech hedge stays nice and tight.
When cared for as a solitary tree, you can simply let the beech grow as long as you have enough space in the garden.
tips
Beeches go through two growth spurts every year. The first takes place in spring from March, the second begins in July and is also known as the Johannistrieb.
