The "wild wine", which actually means the virgin vine from the grapevine family (and only distantly related to the grapevine), is ideal for greening house walls, walls, fences, sheds, pergolas… The rapid growth of the plant quickly leaves bare areas disappear behind dense green foliage. However, the growth also requires regular pruning measures, otherwise the Virginia creeper could literally grow over your head within a very short time.

Up to two meters of growth per year are possible
Depending on the type, variety and substrate, Virginia creeper grows up to two meters per year - all the more of course with the right planting conditions and care. A sunny location and slightly moist, nutrient-rich soil ensure proper growth not only in height but also in width. In shady locations, growth is correspondingly slower, and the climbing plant tends to become bare here.
tips
Although it is often read that wild wine is self-climbing thanks to its adhesive disks, this information does not apply to all types and varieties of virgin vine.
