Virginia creeper - also known as virgin vine or wall wine - is a very fast-growing climbing plant that is often used for greening larger areas such as walls, house facades. pergolas, sheds, fences, etc. You should therefore keep a fairly large planting distance between individual plants.

Since Virginia creeper grows very large, it is important to ensure the correct spacing when planting

Planting distance of at least two meters

Depending on the type and variety, Virginia creeper can easily grow to between ten and fifteen meters in height and up to four - often more - meters in width. A single plant branches very densely and gains about one to two meters of pure length growth per year. When planting, you should therefore make sure that the planting distance between individual specimens is as large as possible - Virginia creeper is planted at least two meters apart, whereby a single plant is usually completely sufficient for greening a single house wall.

tips

With the exception of the common virginia vine (Parthenocissus vitacea), Virginia creeper forms strong adhesive disks that remain on the substrate when cut and can usually only be removed with the help of a gas burner and/or chemical helpers.
