The candytuft likes to spread across the board. Provided it is in the sun. But when does it bloom, how long does it last and are the flowers suitable for cutting in vases?

The candytuft delights with a long flowering period

Flowering period - almost all summer

Depending on the variety, the flowering period of the candytuft begins in May and can last until the end of August. If you want to extend the flowering period or stimulate a second flowering, you should cut back the plant after the first flowering in summer. Then it forms new flowers and can bloom until October!

If the candytuft has multiplied by self-sowing in late summer and has been well cared for until spring, it will start flowering the following year at the end of April/beginning of May!

tips

The flowers are ideal as cut flowers for the vase. You should cut them off before all the individual flowers are open.
