Purple bells feel most comfortable in a location in the sun or in semi-shade. There they are known for their decorative leaves. But their flowers can also arouse enthusiasm. When do they show up?

The flowering time of the purple bells varies depending on the variety

Flowering time depends on the variety

There are many different varieties of purple bells. These bloom at different times. Most purple bells begin flowering in May. Then they bloom until July. The purple bells, for example, bloom between June and July.

But some varieties can flower until September. In addition, the flowering period can begin as early as April in mild locations or after mild winters. This is how you recognize the flowers:

  • on 30 to 50 cm long stems
  • upright
  • in panicles
  • many small flower bells
  • colored red, white or pink

tips

As soon as the flowering period ends, you should cut off the old buds just above the ground!
