With around 130 species in different sizes and shapes, the various meadow rue (lat. Thalictrum) do not all have the same requirements in terms of location or soil. But they do have some things in common and you should find out about them here.

The meadow rue thrives best in partial shade

Most species of meadow rue prefer to be in partial shade or in the light sun. In full sun they need a lot of water. In general, they like at least fresh, but better moist soil. Only a few varieties tolerate relative drought.

Although the meadow rue can generally be classified as easy to care for, it is not entirely undemanding. For example, it likes nutrient-rich soil. You can help with some compost or fertilizer.

The best location tips for the meadow rue:

  • semi-shady to slightly sunny
  • usually rather damp
  • humic, nutrient-rich soil
  • the more sun, the more watering

tips

The meadow rue can also be used as a cut flower for the vase.
