Because of its beautifully patterned flower bells, the checkerboard flower is enjoying increasing popularity as a cultivated plant. Since all parts of the plant are poisonous, it should not be planted where children could accidentally nibble on the chess flower.

The toxins and their effects
The highest concentration of alkaloids is found in onions. These are mainly imperalin and fritilin, in addition to other substances that are also toxic in small quantities. When cooked, the onion loses its toxic effect.
When eating the onions, vomiting, gastrointestinal problems and abdominal cramps occur. Blood pressure can drop dangerously, which in severe cases can lead to cardiac arrest.
tips
Talk to your children early on about the risks of poisoning. Children learn very quickly not to eat any part of an unfamiliar plant, no matter how tempting it may look.
